We are proud to share that our President Director, Bama Djokonugroho, in his capacity as the Chairman of Centre of Maritime Law Studies/Pusat Studi Hukum Maritim (PSHM) of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Law (IKAFH) at Universitas Diponegoro has invited by the Shipping Tribunal as a speaker to discuss on the urgency to expand the authority of the Shipping Tribunal.

In the visit, Bama focuses on the need of Shipping Tribunal to be able to conduct inspection and enforce sanction for violations committed by master of the vessel, crews, operator, owner of the vessel and officers or officials who have the likelihood to cause a vessel accident. This expand of authority is what lacks from Shipping Tribunal that usually only focuses on the post factum of a vessel accident rather to take a more preventive approach or ante factum.

Another thing that put into attention is the shifting of authority held by Harbour Master, which once considered to have full authority to enforce the law in its working area, to only function as a supervisor and investigator. This condition is causing confusion and concerns among stakeholder in shipping and maritime industry which resulted from the possibility of law enforcement against violation in shipping sector to become under the domain of Indonesian court rather than on Shipping Tribunal.
